Part calendar for time, part zine for manifesting vision, THE 2021 CALENDAR ZINE is a personal project that seeks to decolonize the standard calendar & refocus its dates of importance to underrepresented communities in the format of a spiral-bound zine. Fusing together original photography, new collage work, design, scanned handwriting & personal writing (in both English + non-gendered Spanish), THE 2021 CALENDAR ZINE has been carefully researched & provides imagery that poetically corrects course & checks the emotional pulse of each month’s significance. After a year that has dismantled us all, the making of this work was grounded in aspiration + anchored by a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson that reads “Select and collect all the words and sentences that in all your readings have been to you like the blast of a trumpet.” YOU CAN BUY YOURS HERE!
